Fleckney Market Harborough Leicester Leicestershire Midlands areas

We have been providing quality dance classes since its inception in 1996.

It is our mission to bring dance to Fleckney and the surrounding communities of Leicester and Leicestershire.

Our students are given specific dance training and their knowledge of the performing arts widened educationally without the pressure of exams. We believe the best way to teach dance is through enjoyment, understanding its heritage then challenging it and creating new ways of moving, dance should be freely expressed, and should embrace energy and commitment that the modern up to date music gives to a dancer. We pride ourselves on being ‘within the moment’ looking at the dance world and its ever evolving concepts. Working in such a way demands physical challenges and mental stimulation which is displayed through our Performances. Our twice yearly performances show what the students have achieved; good technique, interesting choreography, teamwork and performance skills. And yes all of these things can be instilled through enjoyment and even as young as 3 or 4. dRUMMONdANCE students are treated as equals and the rapport amongst students and teachers reflects this. There is a great feeling of solidarity.

Exam syllabus work is not a route we follow, however all staff are qualified to teach and do so with a very hands on approach. We are not traditionalists and feel that we produce more of a thinking dancer. Knowledge of the subject underpins the techniques studied, a training that our 230+ members understand and embrace.
Dance and the Performing Arts is such a wide and fast growing industry, we need to keep up with it not just reflect on its past.
Here at dRUMMONdANCE we aim to do just that.
Jo Drummond is the founder of dRUMMONdANCE which started in 1996. This has led to the opening of her own new studios in Fleckney, Mkt Harborough, Leicestershire in July 2003. Jo’s passion for teaching was sparked after she had completed her BA (Hons) in Dance in Society, and AUS Certificate in Teaching, at The University of Surrey, Guildford in 1996. Qualifying as a teacher in her third year of studies, and gaining her teachers for RAD and ISTD, Jo went on to work for Brooksby Melton College and soon became Head of Dance. She has inspired many students to follow a career in dance and the related arts, offering classes in all styles of dance and singing at her studios in the evenings and weekends.
